Ravens-Chargers Player Prop Pick

Lamar Jackson Prop O/U 233.5 Passing Yards

The Baltimore Ravens suffered a brutal loss last week when tight end Mark Andrews went down. Lamar Jackson threw for only 169 yards against the Houston Texans when Andrews sat out in Week 1. Baltimore’s quarterback has averaged 221.9 passing yards per game since then, notching 230-plus passing yards just four times. Jackson now takes on the embarrassingly terrible Los Angeles Chargers passing defense on Sunday night. This is the same Chargers secondary that signed cornerback J.C. Jackson to a massive contract before cutting him mid-season.

We’re taking Jackson to beat his low passing yardage prop of 233.5 yards. The market hasn’t settled on a number for this one, with FanDuel listing it all the way up in the 240s. The Chargers’ defense, which is coughing up a monstrous 316.3 passing yards per game to opposing quarterbacks, is a great target with this prop even with Andrews now done for the year. Even Zach Wilson threw for 263 passing yards against this group. Jackson should clear this number with ease.

Ravens-Chargers Model Player Prop

Gus Edwards O/U 4.5 Receiving Yards

With my pick out of the way, let’s see what OddsShopper’s model has to say about this game. It wants action on one of Baltimore’s many running backs, bruiser Gus Edwards. Edwards has 119 receiving yards on just nine targets this year, although 80 of those came on a single play against the Detroit Lions. Edwards has tallied at least five receiving yards in four of his 11 appearances this year.

How does the model work? OddsShopper’s Premium tools index the odds across the market, weigh odds for the sharpness of each book and then adjust for hold. The result is the wager’s true odds, which it then compares to the actual odds to identify +EV wagers. And yes, it’s profitable — just look at some results!

In this case, the model wants action on Edwards because Pinnacle, a sharp book, has Edwards’ receiving yardage prop set to 5.5 with the over priced at -110, but you can find the over 4.5 for as cheap as -108 on BetRivers, SugarHouse and Unibet! That’s despite the “true odds” for the over 4.5 sitting at -122. If you don’t have access to those books, the -113 at FanDuel is also a +EV wager. Ravens-Chargers Anytime Touchdown Scorer Pick

It’s never sexy, but betting on Gus Edwards to score a touchdown has usually been profitable this season. Baltimore’s goal-line running back has found paydirt in each of the team’s last five games and in six of their 11 games this season. Edwards’ touchdown streak includes three multi-touchdown games — he found paydirt twice against the Cincinnati Bengals and Seattle Seahawks after scoring three times against the Arizona Cardinals.

With Andrews out, Edwards should dominate the red-zone touches for Baltimore. Jackson had thrown 31.8% of his passes inside both the 20-yard line and the 10-yard line to Andrews. His next-leading red zone receiver, Zay Flowers, is nursing an injury but should play. Meanwhile, Edwards ranks second on the Ravens in rushing attempts inside the 20-yard line with 25 (32.5% share) but leads the team inside the 10 with 19 (44.2%) and inside the five with 12 (57.1%).

With this game’s total set to a healthy 48 — and Baltimore’s implied total up at a lofty 25.5 — the books expect the Ravens to put plenty of points on the board. While Los Angeles’ defense struggles far more against the pass than the run, I expect Baltimore to pivot to the ground game once Jackson gets them in the red zone, allowing Edwards to find paydirt in his sixth-straight contest. You’ll find him priced at +110 to find paydirt at Caesars. Make sure to check out our Caesars promo code to get your first bet on the house for up to $1,000!
