Saints-Panthers Player Prop

The total of 39.5 won’t scare me away from betting touchdowns and overs in the Saints-Panthers NFC South duel on Monday Night. Quarterback Derek Carr was welcomed with open arms into New Orleans this offseason and has his sights set on the NFC South title. And since that is arguably the worst division in the NFL, the Saints have the best shot out of anyone to represent the NFC South and host a playoff game come January. But we’re only in Week 2, and we’re targeting tight end Juwan Johnson as our top player prop bet.

Johnson has all the tools to succeed at the tight end position, especially since he was a wide receiver at Oregon. He showcased his speed on his 27-yard catch in Week 1 that made up a chunk of his production. He broke down Tennessee Titans safety Amani Hooker on a choice route and continues showing his potential is ready to breakthrough. His large frame is reminiscent of Carr’s top target in Oakland, Darren Waller.

Seeing 75% of the snaps in Week 1 tells me that the Saints are fully bought into Johnson’s skillset for this offense. Johnson ran a route on 80% of his snaps, ranking ninth highest among tight ends in Week 1. Veteran Jimmy Graham saw just nine snaps, while Johnson logged the third-most routes run on the team. This line needs to be higher for the volume Johnson projects to have. With his speed, one catch could cash this out.

Saints-Panthers Anytime Touchdown Scorer

We will stick on the same side of the ball for our anytime touchdown bet for Saints-Panthers. Running back Jamaal Williams will have full reigns of the Saints backfield until Alvin Kamara returns from suspension. Williams failed to find the endzone in Week 1 after seeing just two carries inside the 20 and none inside the 10, but his 18 carries are encouraging from a volume standpoint. DraftKings has his rush attempts line currently listed at 14.5 with vig on the over. That is more than enough volume for Williams to find the endzone.

It’s no fun picking the top option to score a touchdown, but there’s still plenty of value on FanDuel for this anytime touchdown prop. He varies from +135 on FanDuel to +120 on DraftKings. The Panthers will have a tough time moving the ball down the field, which should lead to excellent field position for Willims and the Saints offense. In Week 1, Bryce Young threw two interceptions, while running back Miles Sanders fumbled. That led to three total touchdowns for the Atlanta Falcons backfield alone. Expect the touchdown machine from last season to carry that over to his new squad in Week 2.
