We begin NFL Week 9 with a game featuring a team that’s desperate for a win and a team that’s desperate to stay healthy. The New York Jets have lost their last five consecutive games and the Houston Texans have a laundry list of injuries, including wide receivers Nico Collins and Stefon Diggs. Texans-Jets Anytime Touchdown Bet for Thursday
Despite acquiring wide receiver Davante Adams, quarterback Aaron Rodgers continues to show support for his young teammate, Garrett Wilson.
Since Adams joined the Jets in Week 7, he’s been targeted 15 times, catching seven passes for 84 yards. Wilson, in that same span, has caught 10 of 17 targets for 174 yards.
In the red zone, Adams has seen three targets compared to two for Wilson, so there’s minimal difference near the goal line. Still, we’re getting better odds on Wilson to score a touchdown tonight.
The Texans are not only suffering injuries offensively, but throughout their secondary, too. They’ll be without safeties Jimmie Ward and Calen Bullock. Houston’s pass defense has been a liability, allowing two receiving touchdowns per game.
This situation favors Wilson, who, despite having only three touchdowns this season, is expected to have six according to advanced metrics. Look for him to capitalize on this opportunity tonight.
