One of the biggest storylines for the fantasy football championship week is centered around the Jacksonville Jaguars. With the AFC South coming down to a showdown with the Tennessee Titans in Week 18, the Jaguars have very little to play for in their Sunday afternoon tilt against the Houston Texans, leaving many to ponder whether or not they’ll their stars. Given the situation, let’s take a look at the latest news out of Jacksonville as well as the Trevor Lawrence-Travis Etienne Jr. fantasy football rankings and analysis.
Trevor Lawrence-Travis Etienne Fantasy Football & DFS Ranking
According to a Sunday morning ESPN report, the Jaguars have no plans to rest any of their starters on Sunday despite the situation.
“It’s full steam ahead,” one Jaguars official told ESPN about the team’s approach against the Texans. “Everybody’s ready and everybody’s playing.”
The report continued to say that the Jaguars are operating under the belief that they need to maintain their winning culture throughout the final two weeks in order to best position themselves for the playoffs and beyond. All of this is very good news for Travis Etienne Jr. and Trevor Lawrence fantasy football owners who are looking to get an edge on Jacksonville’s matchup against the lowly Texans.
Per Stokastic’s weekly fantasy football rankings, Lawrence (No. 8 of all quarterbacks) and Etienne (No. 8) both rank in the top 10 and should be solid fantasy football plays in Week 17. Using Stokastic’s expert models, Lawrence projects to have 18.45 fantasy points and Etienne 15.97.
The Jaguars ascent to the top of the division is thanks in large part to the growth of Lawrence as the season has gone on. In his second season, and first under head coach Doug Pederson, Lawrence ranks No. 9 in the league in yards (3,749) and touchdowns (24) passing and has just seven interceptions.
“To see the improvement, of the guys that were here … I think the culture has really flipped,” Lawrence told reporters Wednesday. “… I feel we’re in a great spot.”
Similarly, Etienne has been putting up solid numbers in the Jaguars backfield all season, with 1,000 yards rushing and four touchdowns in 15 games.
The future is bright in Jacksonville with Lawrence and Etienne leading the offense, and they should both have solid fantasy football performances in Week 17.
