Tyler Huntley or Anthony Brown? Ravens Quarterback Plan Could Be Complex

The Baltimore Ravens are reportedly planning on using both Tyler Huntley and Anthony Brown at the quarterback position against the Cincinnati Bengals. With the Lamar Jackson injury keeping him out of the NFL Playoffs for now, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that the Ravens’ plan is to include both Anthony Brown and Tyler Huntley on Sunday night.

Tyler Huntley & Anthony Brown Set For NFL Playoffs Action

Tyler Huntley missed Week 18 due to a throwing shoulder injury. He’s officially listed as questionable but was able to return to the practice field throughout the week.

“We’ll see when the time comes,” Harbaugh said when asked who would be his starting quarterback, per ESPN.

If Huntley is still hindered by the shoulder injury, it would make sense that the Ravens opt to use him more as a running option, with Anthony Brown getting the bulk of the action on passing plays. Huntley is 3-5 in his career as a starter but has struggled to push the ball downfield at times.

While Huntley has run 44 times in his time under center this season, Brown ran just three times and passed 44 times in last week’s loss to the Bengals. Speaking to reporters this week, Huntley sounded confident he can play through the injury in order to make his first career NFL Playoffs start.

“Just excited to get back out there after missing one week,” Huntley said, “it’s a privilege to go out there and play football and I appreciate it.”

It appears that the Ravens will be forced to use Huntley and/or Brown for however long their playoff run takes them. Lamar Jackson recently revealed that while he’s hungry to get back on the field his knee is still “unstable” from the injury he suffered in Week 13.

“I’m still in good spirits, as I continue with treatments on the road to recovery,” Jackson tweeted. “I wish I could be out there with my guys more than anything but I can’t give a 100% of myself to my guys and fans. I’m still hopeful we still have a chance.”

Per DraftKings Sportsbook, the Ravens are now a heavy 8.5-point underdog against the Bengals on Sunday night with Huntley and Brown facing the tall task of going up against the reigning AFC Champions.
