Underdog Fantasy Pick’em Predictions Today: Daniel Jones (October 28)

The days of the Monday Night Double header are behind us as we return with a solo smash between the Pittsburgh Steelers and New York Giants. That’s about as much hype as you’ll see surrounding this game to cap Week 8 in the NFL, as the Giants are near dead at this point — trying to avoid their third straight loss. The Steelers are still atop the AFC North with hopes of winning more than the division. We found some solid value to expose tonight, so here are your top two Underdog Fantasy pick’em predictions!

Najee Harris H/L Than 63.5 Rushing Yards

Sometimes the obvious play just makes the most sense. In this case, the New York Giants are giving up a ridiculous number of yards on the ground, unable to stop anyone carrying the football. Najee Harris steps in with a solid amount of talent up front — at least enough to overcome a bad Giants front. They give up over 123 yards per game on the ground, and it gets worse with yards per carry from starting backs. Harris is still the man to get the majority of carries, and he should hit at least 18 tonight.

The game script projects to be Harris leading the offense on the ground, doing enough to pound the Giants for big plays while leading to points. It’s a primetime game against a bad team, and the last thing they want to do is look foolish in front of the entire nation. Pittsburgh will methodically punish the Giants from a physical standpoint instead of trying to air it out against a rather decent Giants pass defense.

With the change to Russell Wilson, teams won’t shade the box trying to eliminate the rushing threat of Justin Fields. It’s going to open some natural lanes for Harris. The Steelers should be ahead and in control of this game, but even if they find themselves down, they won’t move away from Harris — not against this run defense.

Daniel Jones H/L Than 25.5 Rushing Yards

The Giants should be on the run, which means Daniel Jones will be running for his life. The reality is Jones is missing a key piece up front, should be playing from behind and ultimately is a liability every time he throws the football. The Giants are actually better off asking Jones to run than pass at this point. As absurd as it may sound to build a game plan around that, the reality is Jones will see a few designed run plays. One that we are fairly confident won’t happen is a quarterback kneel.

The Giants have seen this script play out in the past. They go down, defenses soften up, and any quarterback with legs can move on them. I like Jones to skate off some pressure from T.J. Watt and the incoming pressure, able to escape from a couple of sacks for positive yards. He will certainly take a fall but between designed runs and running for survival, Jones should be a top-2 rusher tonight for the Giants.
