At one point of the season, Baker Mayfield was a more reasonable choice for MVP than Patrick Mahomes. Things have certainly come down to Earth, as the Buccaneers are struggling without key weapons on offense and next to none on defense. The Chiefs keep winning, adding DeAndre Hopkins in the process and building towards another deep playoff run. Cade Otton H/L Than 9.95 Fantasy Points
Without Mike Evans and Chris Godwin, Cade Otton becomes the No. 1 option in the Buccaneers passing game. Despite the entire Kansas City Chiefs defense knowing this, Mayfield and the Buccaneers are going to do everything possible to get Otton the ball. Books have already increased his receptions and receiving yards, but the fantasy points on Underdog seemed a tad slow to react.
The offense will move through Otton and Rachaad White, which won’t change even if Tampa finds itself down (early). By casting a wider net on fantasy performance, we are able to gain points with receptions, yards and any touchdown. Otton is going to be a magnet in the red zone but not the only option — as he won’t be blanketed by multiple defenders each trip down to the goal line. Whether it comes via play action or creative motion and movement, Otton should get plenty of looks.
Stokastic’s industry-leading NFL DFS projections have Otton clearing this rather comfortably — 3 points higher than the 9.95 projection — making it clear that the injuries around him only impact Otton for the better. It’s the top play to build any entry on Underdog, as Otton can thrive across multiple game scripts.
Underdog Fantasy Pick’em Prediction: Cade Otton Higher Than 9.59 Rushing Yards
Xavier Worthy H/L Than 17.5 Longest Reception
There are two ways the Chiefs will attack this absurdly poor Buccaneers secondary, and both end up with Xavier Worthy going for more than the projection. The first, more sensible way would be to methodically wear down the Buccaneers by hammering Kareem Hunt and Travis Kelce, opening things up for DeAndre Hopkins in the process. With so much focus on the big three weapons around Mahomes, the Buccaneers’ poor pass defense could relinquish a big play to Worthy — the current big-play receiver.
The other option is assaulting this terrible unit, one that gives up 273.9 passing yards per game. This is clearly as bad as it gets for their secondary in Tampa, and Andy Reid might opt to put the Buccaneers out of their misery. The Chiefs have a solid closer in Hunt, and the Buccaneers are already men down for much of a comeback. The best part about this smaller-market play is how little Worthy needs to touch the ball. He’s live to hit this total on his first grab.
