PGA amateur Sam Bennett has risen to the occasion at Augusta National this week, making a name for himself with an impressive first two rounds of The Masters. The latest Masters betting trends now show that bettors are taking a chance on the young player to chase down Brooks Koepka and Jon Rahm to win the coveted Green Jacket.

Sam Bennett Masters Bets Flying in After First Two Rounds
Per Vegas Insider’s Patrick Everson, Bennett is a large liability to win the Masters thanks to his longshot odds to win the event pre-tournament (5000-1). One bettor placed just $147 on Bennett to win the Masters before the tourney. It would pay out a whopping $735,000 if he were to pull off the triumph.
Another bettor at DraftKings Sportsbook will win over $100K if Bennett cashes in as the underdog.
The amateur star turned heads during his second round at Augusta National on Friday, firing off his second-straight round of 68 to get to -8 on the tournament, just four strokes behind the lead.
Still, Bennett is not content. He fully has his sights on winning this tournament and just might have the right amount of swagger to be able to pull it off.
“I don’t hit it far like Sargent. I don’t have 190 ball speed. I don’t have a pretty swing like some of the other amateurs…(but) I’ve done the right things this week. I was prepared. I was more experienced than the other guys, and yeah, here I sit here with a chance to go on the weekend and do something special,” he said, per Barstool Sports’ Dan Rapoport.
“Everybody coming into the week was, yeah, hope you get Low Am. That’s pretty much all they were saying. I just wanted to put two good rounds up. I knew my golf was good enough to compete out here. I found myself in a situation that now I’ve got a golf tournament that I can go out and win.”
There are many great storylines as we enter the weekend at The Masters. But none of them match what Sam Bennett has been able to pull off as a virtual unknown heading into the most prestigious golf tournament in the world.
One thing is for sure: the young star will not be intimidated by the big names on the leaderboard when he tees it up on Saturday afternoon. The latest Masters betting trends show that Bennett is not the only one who has the belief he can win this tournament.
