The PGA Tour left Detroit with a bang, ending the Rocket Mortgage Classic with a 3-way playoff. Rickie Fowler came through in the clutch, defeating Adam Hadwin and Collin Morikawa to win the tournament. The win is Fowler’s first of 2023, as he surges back into the conversation as one of the TOUR’s top golfers.
With The Open Championship right around the corner, Rickie’s rise couldn’t come at a better time, and his betting odds are starting to show it. Let’s take a look at the Open Championship odds to see where Rickie Fowler stands.

Rickie Fowler stole the spotlight from Collin Morikawa in Sunday’s playoff, but he is currently eclipsed by him on the Open Championship odds board. Fowler is +2500 compared to Morikawa at +2200. The 25:1 number for Fowler may come as a surprise to PGA bettors who haven’t paid attention to Rickie’s play this season. He has turned his career around and returned to top form. Shane Lowry, Patrick Cantlay and Tommy Fleetwood are also +2500 to win the tournament, while the Open Championship odds are 28:1 on Tyrell Hatton, Matthew Fitzpatrick and Dustin Johnson.
The top of The Open Championship oddsboard is dominated by three golfers; Rory McIlroy at +750 and Scottie Scheffler and Jon Rahm at +750. McIlroy’s odds are not only strengthened by his recent form, but also his familiarity with the course in his home country. The Scot joins other native near the top of the board for the major event, including Tommy Fleetwood and Matthew Fitzpatrick.
Although Rickie Fowler hasn’t risen to the very top of the oddsboard, his recent form has bumped his chances substantially in the eyes of PGA oddsmakers. Rickie’s rise is not only about winning the Rocket Mortgage Classic, but also recent form that helped him make history at the U.S. Open in June. Fowler joined Xander Schauffele in setting a U.S. Open record round of 62 at the Los Angeles Country Club. The previous record of 63 went unchallenged since 1974.
