Will Zalatoris Injury News: Star Withdraws From The Masters
The Zalatoris news comes at the worst possible time and paints a grim picture of his immediate PGA future. He missed several months last season with a herniated disk in his back and was forced to withdraw from the WGC Match Play last month with a stomach bug.
Zalatoris admitted when speaking ahead of The Masters that he was changing up his approach to hopefully avoid re-aggravating his injury in the future.
“The genesis of (the injury) was actually bad right ankle mobility,” Zalatoris said, per Golf Channel. “Because of me not pushing off my right side soon enough and being a very kind of dynamic player with some side bend, my right hip got high and tilt back.
“We’ve been trying to get me actually to stand closer to the golf ball, so that makes me create space with the ball so I can turn more horizontal as opposed to lateral. It’s been good. It’s taken its sweet time to get the full swing to come back, but I think really the last couple weeks we finally have seen some progress.”
Zalatoris (+4000 to win the Masters on DraftKings Sportsbook) was among the top picks. He has had great success at Augusta National, finishing in a tie for sixth last season after being the runner-up in 2021.
The latest back flair-up means Zalatoris will not be able to expand on his solid finishes at this tournament. But hopefully, he will be able to get back in PGA action before too long. We will continue to track Zalatoris injury news going forward.
