2023 Women’s World Cup Odds (Winners)
USA | +250 |
England | +350 |
Spain | +450 |
Germany | +650 |
France | +1000 |
Australia | +1200 |
Sweden | +1400 |
Netherlands | +2000 |
Brazil | +2500 |
Canada | +3500 |
2023 Women’s World Cup Bets: Germany (+650, DraftKings)
In my last piece, I explained why the USWNT were not outright favorites in my opinion. An inexperienced coach and squad, along with poor form and key injuries to the likes of Becky Sauerbrunn, Mal Swanson and Sam Mewis is a recipe for falling short Down Under. Moreover, at +250, the USWNT does not have great value from a futures betting perspective. The World Cup is too difficult a competition to assume they will be able to easily rattle off a third consecutive victory, a feat which neither a men’s nor women’s side has accomplished.
Further down the odds table, we have England and Spain, who will be two teams to keep an eye on. For the Lionesses, they will be without the likes of Fran Kirby, Leah Williamson and Beth Mead, all of whom started in their Euro Final versus Germany in 2022. For me, that is too big of a loss to recover and win the cup.
On the other hand, Spain are playing in just their third Women’s World Cup. They are surrounded by drama right now, with players campaigning for the Royal Spanish Football Federation to improve treatment of the team. In particular, defender Mapi Leon was not selected, which is a significant absence. While Alexia Putellas and Aitana Bonmati are great players, the outside noise with Spain seems hard to ignore.
This leads me to Germany, who have +650 odds to win the Women’s World Cup. Germany has won this competition twice in the 2000’s, with a fourth place finish to boot in 2015. For starters, they have an easier group with the likes of Colombia, Morocco and South Korea. While, they are in the hardest side of the knockout bracket, this team has grit and a chip on their shoulder from the 2022 Euro tournament. On top of that, Alexandra Popp is a lethal finisher up top, which is a must-have in tournament like this. With nine goals in her last fourteen matches, she is just the player to lead Germany to World Cup glory.
2023 Women’s World Cup Odds (Semifinalists)
USA | -160 |
England | -110 |
Spain | -110 |
Germany | +110 |
Australia | +160 |
France | +170 |
Sweden | +250 |
Canada | +350 |
Netherlands | +350 |
Brazil | +400 |
2023 Women’s World Cup Picks: Sweden (+250, DraftKings)
Additionally, you have to look further down the odds table when looking for a valuable semifinalist play at the 2023 Women’s World Cup. Sweden has incredible value at +250, considering they are one of the most successful teams in the history of the tournament. Blågult has reached the final once, and has finished in third on three separate occasions.
Peter Gerhardsson has been in charge since Pia Sundhage left the role in 2017 and has done rather incredibly. Well-equipped with talents like Fridolina Rolfö and Anna Sandberg, he has all he needs to lift a surprising piece of silverware. Sweden are surely favorites to top a group of Italy, Argentina and South Africa; then they will have to beat one of the Netherlands, Spain or Japan, should other groups play out as expected. At +250, this has more than enough value for a sprinkle.
2023 Women’s World Cup Golden Boot Odds
Alex Morgan | +400 |
Sophia Smith | +650 |
Sam Kerr | +750 |
Alexandra Popp | +900 |
Esther Gonzalez | +900 |
Alessia Russo | +1000 |
Rachel Daly | +1200 |
Eugenie Le Sommer | +1200 |
Alba Redondo | +1400 |
Trinity Rodman | +1400 |
2023 Women’s World Cup Picks: (+275, DraftKings)
Finally, we are riding with Sam Kerr as our favorite for the 2023 Women’s World Cup Golden Boot. The Chelsea forward and Australia native has odds of +750, only bettered by Americans Alex Morgan and Sophia Smith. I love this play because Australia’s scoring is centered around Kerr, whereas the Americans have a plethora of players that could find the scoresheet. The same can really be said about England, Germany and Spain.
Also, Kerr has 13 goals in her last 13 appearances for Australia, which is an incredible return. Australia has an interesting path to go far in this tournament. As long as they win their group, they could face Denmark, France or Brazil in the quarterfinals. The longer they stay alive, the more Kerr has a chance to lift individual silverware.
