Tuesday’s Women’s World Cup slate features two games, as Group A wraps back around for its second matchday. Currently, Switzerland and New Zealand sit atop the group with three points apiece, only separated by goal difference. New Zealand, who are co-hosts of this year’s tournament, pulled off a surprising upset in the first game of the tournament, toppling 12th-ranked Norway. Now it has the benefit of playing the easiest team in the group; a win would all but guarantee them a trip to the knockouts. Switzerland faces the same scenario but will be squaring off against a much harder opponent in Norway. With that being said, let’s break down our best Women’s World Cup bets with predictions for both New Zealand-Philippines and Switzerland-Norway.

New Zealand-Philippines Prediction
Before the opening day of the Women’s World Cup, New Zealand had never won a game at the tournament, going 0-3-12 in 15 matches. That all changed thanks to a Hannah Wilkinson counter strike in the 48th minute. Despite Norway accumulating 1.20 expected goals (xG), New Zealand was able to keep the door shut for the rest of the match, which is honestly a rare feat for Jitka Klimková’s squad.
Next it faces the Philippines, who on paper are easier opponents. This is the first ever World Cup trip for the 46th-ranked AFC side, and honestly not much is expected of them, considering it is now +10,000 odds to qualify from Group A. In its first match against Switzerland, New Zealand only controlled 26% of the possession and was only able to muster three shots, with none falling on frame of the goal.
However, it did fare better in a friendly against New Zealand just last year. That match finished 2-1 in favor of the Football Ferns, with Meikayla Moore and Ali Riley grabbing a pair of late goals to flip the tie. Tuesday’s match should play out similarly, with New Zealand edging it given what is at stake for them. From a betting perspective, not a ton of sensible plays have value here. The New Zealand moneyline is too juicy and even the Philippines to cover at +1.5 sits at -145. Instead, take a shot at under 2.5 total goals, a play that has hit in 66% of the games so far.
Final New Zealand-Philippines Prediction: Under 2.5 total goals (-130, DraftKings)

Switzerland-Norway Prediction
In Tuesday’s second match, the stakes are raised as a disgruntled Norwegian side has its backs to the wall. Respectively, Norway has one of the best records in the Women’s World Cup, going 24-4-13 over the nine separate editions. The only time it failed to qualify from its group was in 2011, the same year it lost consecutive group stage games for the first time. Hege Riise’s side now faces that same fate, with a confident Switzerland team standing in its way.
Any team that plays the hosts on the first day of the World Cup is at a disadvantage. For that reason, look past Norway’s failure and just call it a blip in its path to qualification. Remember, Switzerland come into this World Cup having endured a stretch of terribly mediocre form, going winless in six matches. Moreover, the competition it was playing in the buildup was not that impressive.
There’s still time for Norway to turn the ship around and should be favored to beat Switzerland on Tuesday. It has been a while since the Swiss faced a forward like Ada Hegerberg too, and it is very realistic she eats them up as she still works her way back into this team.
Final Switzerland-Norway Prediction: Norway moneyline (+115, DraftKings)
