Best WNBA Bets Today: Caitlin Clark Is Going Under

It’s time to continue our best WNBA bets today series by focusing on Caitlin Clark among other plays you’ll be able to make.

The first week of the WNBA season is in the books, and we’ve already seen plenty of thrilling games, as well as plenty of winning tickets. I’m 13-7 in my best WNBA bets today series here at OddsShopper after the first week of the season, and I’m looking to stay hot heading into a new week. I’m keeping things simple and classic this Monday with two bets against-the-spread I feel there’s a strong edge on. I’m pairing these spreads with one connected player prop for game as well.

The unfortunate thing about today’s two-game slate is that the games are, for some reason, scheduled simultaneously, both tipping at 7pm Eastern. Jewell Loyd and the Seattle Storm have their second road game in as many days, travelling from DC, where they beat the Mystics yesterday, to New York where they’ll take on the Liberty at Barclays Center. Meanwhile, in Indiana, the 0-3 Fever look to get right hosting the Connecticut Sun in an opening day rematch.

The Sun gave the Fever an absolute trouncing when they met on opening day, beating them 92-71. As we saw in that beatdown, Connecticut poses huge match-up problems for Indiana across the board.

The Sun’s veteran frontcourt of Alyssa Thomas and Brionna Jones made life really difficult for the Fever’s young star forwards, NaLyssa Smith and Aliyah Boston, in their last match-up. Caitlin Clark faces tight defensive coverage from rising star DiJonai Carrington, a highly skilled and athletic defender, who was able to forced Clark to cough up the ball 10 times in her professional debut.

The Fever are five-point dogs at home, but I think the Sun should be favored by closer to 8 or 9 points. I’m laying the points with Connecticut and hitting Sun -4.5 on the spread. With Carrington covering Clark tight and the Sun clogging her passing lanes, I’ll also take Caitlin Clark under 5.5 assists.

Connecticut Sun @ Indiana Fever Best Bets: Connecticut Sun -4.5 AND Caitlin Clark Under 5.5 assists

I’m going to be real, the schedule makers did the Seattle Storm pretty dirty scheduling this trip for them. The Storm are in a terrible spot heading into Barclays. They’re a team with new stars who came in in free agency trying to make it all gel, it’s early in the season. It’s their second game in two days, on the road.

They’re heading into one of the loudest arenas in the W, to face a team that has their own, more established star-studded roster. To make matters worse, Seattle may be without the services of Nneka Ogwumike, who missed yesterday’s game against the Mystics with an ankle injury. Ogwumike has been Seattle’s most consistent player so far this season, with Jewell Loyd opening the season shooting 13-of-59 from the floor.

Forgive the pun, but it’s the perfect storm. This has blowout written all over it. I’m hitting New York -10 and would hit this spread up to -14.5 with the multitude of factors against Seattle. I’ll also be taking an under on Jewell Loyd’s points prop, down to 20.5. Between her shooting woes, the back-to-back, the blowout factor, and the defensive coverage of Betnijah Laney, I really like an under for Loyd here.

Seattle Storm @ New York Liberty Best Bets: New York Liberty -10 AND Jewell Loyd Under 20.5 points
