Looking for the best WNBA player props today? We continue our WNBA bets series by looking at an interesting Caitlin Clark prop among other potential plays. Some recap first.
We’re looking for a bounce-back after unfortunately getting hooked on half of our plays yesterday, big yuck on that. We’re down to a still-winning 25-22 on the season as a whole on our W Best Bets, and we’ve got a two-game slate today to help wash the bad taste of yesterday out of our mouths. Let’s cook.
The WNBA slate tips off today at 7PM eastern with the Indiana Fever looking for their first home win of the season, and their second win overall, against the surging Seattle Storm, who have won 4 of their last 5 games after dropping two games to the Minnesota Lynx to start the season. At 8pm, the Los Angeles Sparks visit the Chicago Sky in a clash of rookie post players with championship pedigree as Angel Reese matches up with Cameron Brink.
WNBA Player Props Today & Bets
I really like these spots for both the Storm and the Sky, and hit both spreads at open with Chicago at -2.5 and Seattle amazingly at +1. The opening spread for the Storm seemed somehow both over-adjusted to Seattle’s early season struggles and under-adjusted to Indiana’s early season struggles. Even at home, with how the Fever have looked so far, they certainly shouldn’t have been favored against an elite squad like the Storm.
Seattle’s new Big 3 has begun to gel over the last few games, with Skylar Diggins-Smith dropping 21 points against Chicago last time out and Jewell Loyd having left behind her early season shooting woes. Indiana’s young Big 3 of Aliyah Boston, Nalyssa Smith, and Caitlin Clark still seem to be struggling to fit together. All three of these young players have had great games individually this season, but they can’t seem to all get it going at the same time.
This match-up particularly favors Seattle in the frontcourt, with Nneka Ogwumike and Ezi Magbegor forming one of the most dynamic two-way post pairings in the league and Boston and Smith, again, struggling overall right now. Add to it that Indiana is missing EuroLeague import and breakout player Temi Fagbenele and the post battle shifts even further in Seattle’s favor. The Fever will also be without veteran guard Erica Wheeler off the bench, putting more ball-handling pressure on Caitlin Clark, who I predict will struggle getting coverage from Jewell Loyd and 3-and-D mainstay Sami Whitcomb.
For Chicago, I’ve been extremely impressed with how they’ve fared against elite competition in their last three games. After upsetting the New York Liberty on the road, the Sky returned home and really held their own in two losses against the Connecticut Sun and the Seattle Storm. The Sky was solidly in both games for the first half, leading Connecticut by 8 heading into the break and trailing Seattle by just one at half.
While they weren’t able to pull either game out, the Sky showed a capability to hang with the best in the league. Forged by fire over these three match-ups, I really like the Sky to win this game comfortably by a few possessions. I particularly anticipate the Sparks to struggle to contain Marina Mabrey, who has been absolutely cooking for the Sky to start the season. The Sparks are without a great leader and an absolute dog perimeter defender in Layshia Clarendon (concussion), as well as without head coach Curt Miller, who’s being inducted to the MAC Hall of Fame.
With the spreads on both of these games having moved a ton, I like attacking these sides together as a money line parlay.
